F1 Betting Tips for Canadian General Practitioners in 2023

The Canadian Grand Prix is always full of surprises, and this weekend's race is already forecast to be unpredictable from the usual culprit in Montreal...the weather.

A wet qualifying muddied up the field last year, giving Alpine and Haas the chance to start at the front of the grid after an unsuspected field. On Sunday, however, the sunshine depleted any advantage, and all the usual characters were fighting for victory.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz had a dream race with everything going his way, but he still couldn't beat the speed of the Red Bull and Max Verstappen, the Spaniard coming in second and Lewis Hamilton taking a familiar podium position, albeit an unfamiliar third step.

Despite the rain expected on Saturday and Sunday at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, there is still no way to rule out Max Verstappen for a second pole and victory.

It is renowned for its fast straights, tight chicanes, and the famous "Wall of Champions" at the final chicane, which has claimed many lives. In addition to several heavy braking zones, the track offers ample overtaking opportunities, which are all ideal for the reigning champion and his RB19.

We can expect Ferrari to bounce back this weekend in Montreal, given their statement that their upgrades are better suited to low-speed corners than the high-speed ones of Catalunya.

Despite a two-three finish behind Verstappen in Barcelona, it will be interesting to see how the AMG F1 W14 E performs on a slower circuit.

Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have previously won seven times on the semi-permanent track circuit at the Canadian Grand Prix.

The best bet for qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix

Since he posted the fastest lap last year in rain, Max Verstappen is likely to win regardless of the conditions. Verstappen is only worth betting on if he converts pole position into a race win at any race meet, and this is a bet you can lay with confidence.

In qualifying, I would look no further than Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari at 7.00 odds. Sebastian Vettel took pole in the two previous races at Montreal, in 2019 and 2018.

It is possible that the Monacian could pinch the pole from the Red Bull if the track works for the Ferrari.

The best bet for the Canadian Grand Prix

Maxi Verstappen and Sergio Perez are likely to finish one-two at The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve due to the 1.1km Casino Straight.

Since the Mexican has had a couple of poor finishes recently, there is some value to be found at 1.72 that both Red Bulls will finish on top.

Aston Martin, Ferrari and Mercedes will be battling for the final podium spot, just as they have all season. I am backing Lewis Hamilton to make it into the champagne celebration, purely on his impeccable record in Canada.

The best bet for the Canadian Grand Prix is both cars to finish on points

Since Miami, BWT Alpine F1 Team has finished in the top 10 in both cars, highlighted by a podium finish to Ocon in Monaco.

In Montreal, we can expect both cars to finish in the points again with the Renault E-Tech RE23 engine, which has improved greatly in 2023.

My F1 Grand Prix Predictions

Red Bull won the Canadian grand prix with Max Verstappen taking pole and winning.

A lazy unit on Charles Leclerc is not a bad idea, as he could also be the only one to challenge the Dutchman in the dry.

It is expected that Lewis Hamilton will finish on the podium at The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, as well as both Alpines finishing on the podium.
