Borussia Dortmund stays on course: Thanks in particular to Erling Haaland, BVB Union Berlin beats 4-2 and inflicts the first defeat of the Bundesliga season on the guests.

Union coach Urs Fischer made four personnel changes after the 1: 3 against Slavia Prague. Baumgartl, Ryerson, Gießelmann and Prömel started for Jaeckel, Trimmel, Puchacz and Haraguchi.

As expected, BVB determined the direction of the march from the start and combined playfully by defending the guests. The offensive urge was rewarded early on: Union could not decisively prevent a combination of Guerreiro and Dahoud in a confined space. The Portuguese finally took the ball out of the air from an acute angle around 15 meters away from the goal and slammed it straight into the far corner - nothing to be done for Luthe (10th).

Union never gave up

It also got tricky in the aftermath when the Borussia picked up the pace. At the next counterattack from the textbook, Luthe was defeated again. Dahoud with a great overview played on Meunier, whose exemplary flank was headed in against the direction of the keeper by the beleaguered Haaland (24th). From the game, the guests found it difficult to get close to Kobel against the high pressure of the home side, which was not seriously examined in the first round.

The second half then had even more to offer: After Friedrich's own goal (52nd), it looked like a clear matter and a relaxed evening for everyone who was up against BVB, but the Unerdog never gave up. After the break, the Köpenicker acted more courageously and with more self-confidence. At the latest after the converted penalty from Kruse (58th), the guests saw their chance. The fact that Dortmund subsequently missed the last consequence on the offensive and the Westphalia rested on the lead was punished by Union. Substitute Voglsammer headed one of the many dangerous corners of Gießelmann to make it 2: 3 (81st).

Haaland's artistic contribution

But tension in the final phase? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! Haaland objected. In direct return, Hummels sent his teammate with a ball over half the field into the danger zone, where the Norwegian unpacked his whole class. Artistic across the air, the exceptional talent carried the ball in a high arc over Luthe to the decision in the net (83rd).
